Burning Man 2016

identity, print brochure, product designs

In 2016, the annual Burning Man festival paid homage to the explosion of creativity marked by the Italian Renaissance with the theme “Da Vinci’s Workshop.” This project consists of promotional materials for the event, including a ticket, brochure, t-shirt, water bottle, and tote bag. In branding the 2016 festival, my goal was to create an identity that struck a balance between the Renaissance and the present day. The hand-illustrated patterns are comprised of imagery associated with Leonardo, the Renaissance, and the Burning Man festival. Aged paper textures lend the quality of Leonardo’s own sketchbook, but the typography, colorized photography, and bold color palette keep the design contemporary.
